How to Make Homemade Brown Sugar in 2 Minutes

Homemade Brown Sugar with White Sugar in a Bowl

EVER RUN OUT OF BROWN SUGAR MID RECIPE?

There you are—ready to bake cookies, banana bread, or your grandma’s famous BBQ sauce—and boom. You reach for the brown sugar… and it’s gone.

I’ve been there more times than I care to admit. But instead of giving up (or running to the store in flour-covered yoga pants), I learned a ridiculously simple kitchen hack that changed everything.

You can make homemade brown sugar from scratch in under 2 minutes.

And yes, it’s just as good (if not better) than store-bought.

why make homemade brown sugar yourself?

  • It saves you a trip to the store

  • You control how light or dark it is

  • It stays soft and fresh longer when made in small batches

  • It’s satisfyingly simple—no special tools required

"A well-stocked pantry isn’t just convenient—it’s the secret to saving money one recipe at a time."
